“We hold these truths to be self evident…”
We live in a living universe. We are biocosmic beings interconnected with all other life. We are in a time of Great Transition on our planet where old patterns are dying and new paradigms are emerging. We each have the capacity and call to consciously participate in the co-creation of our future.
The Living Universe
For the past three hundred years or so, science has viewed the universe as essentially non-living at its foundations and made up of primarily of inert matter and empty space. This view has led to rampant materialism and global environmental degradation. To transform our planetary crises, we need to move past a paradigm of separation and exploitation and learn to live sustainably on the Earth.
Our identity is immeasurably larger than our biological selves. We are vastly more than a skin-encapsulated being. Seeing ourselves as part of the fabric of creation awakens our sense of connection with, and compassion for, the totality of life. Discovering that we are deeply connected participants in the continuous co-arising of the entire Universe transforms feelings of existential separation into experiences of subtle communion as bio-cosmic beings.
With the global communications revolution, the world is becoming transparent to itself. Humanity is becoming a collective witness to its own journey and the consequences of its collective actions. This opens a whole new possibility for consciously choosing the direction of our own evolution.
The Great Transition
We start with the premise that we are in a great transition, where many systems and ideas that have been in place--some for decades, some for centuries, some even for millennia—are rapidly changing. Some are dissolving or disintegrating and some are emerging or being born. We are in the middle trying to make sense of the chaos of such profound change.
