HealthRHYTHMS

Workshop
Evidence-based group empowerment drumming program focused on wellness rather than performance, training facilitators to bring rhythm-based interventions to schools, healthcare, corporate, and community settings—fostering positive mood, enhanced immunity, and community connection through accessible recreational music-making requiring no prior experience.

HealthRHYTHMS Group Empowerment Drumming is an evidence-based program that uses group drumming as a strategy for wellness rather than performance. The 15-hour hands-on training equips participants to bring rhythm-based wellness to schools, healthcare settings, corporate environments, and community programs—no musical experience required. Developed through interdisciplinary collaboration between experts in neuroscience, music therapy, and recreational music-making (RMM), HealthRHYTHMS teaches participants to facilitate group drumming sessions that empower participants, foster positive mood, enhance immunity, and build community connections. The program is open to music therapists, educators, counselors, physicians, musicians, social workers, nurses, and other caring individuals.

Why It Matters: HealthRHYTHMS transforms drumming from performance art into an accessible wellness practice grounded in research on the mind-body connection—demonstrating that recreational music-making offers measurable health benefits when the focus is on process rather than skill. By designing activities accessible for all ages and abilities and requiring no prior musical experience, the program democratizes rhythm’s healing power for diverse communities often excluded from music-based interventions. The evidence-based foundations in neuroscience and music therapy ensure that facilitators can bring rhythm prescriptions for holistic well-being to settings from healthcare to corporate environments, creating community connection through shared experience rather than individual achievement.
