Indigeneity Conversations

Podcast
A podcast featuring Native culture bearers, scholars, and movement leaders discussing essential issues in Indian Country—from Land Return to Rights of Nature—exemplifying Indigenous leadership in reshaping society’s relationship with the natural world while inviting all to decolonize and re-indigenize their hearts, minds, and actions.

Indigeneity Conversations is a podcast series featuring deep and engaging conversations with Native culture bearers, scholars, movement leaders, and non-Native allies on the most important issues and solutions in Indian Country. The series also features excerpts from the Indigenous Forum, a sovereign space and touchstone for Native leaders and non-Native allies at the annual Bioneers Conference to create and grow strategic alliances. Indigeneity Conversations explores compelling issues such as Indigenous Land Return, Cultural Appropriation, Rights of Nature, and other essential conversations that exemplify the leadership role Indigenous cultures are playing in reshaping society’s relationship with the natural world while highlighting the contemporary lives, work, and experiences of Native Americans. Collage artwork by Mer Young celebrates and elevates Indigenous, First Nations, and Native cultures.

Why it matters: It invites everyone to decolonize and re-indigenize their hearts, minds, and actions—recognizing that Indigenous peoples are not relics of the past but contemporary leaders offering essential guidance for transforming humanity’s relationship with the natural world. By creating space for Native voices to speak on their own terms about the issues they identify as most important, the podcast centers Indigenous perspectives rather than filtering them through non-Native frameworks. The combination of individual conversations and excerpts from the Indigenous Forum demonstrates that this work happens both through deep dialogue and through strategic alliance-building between Native leaders and non-Native allies committed to the same transformations.
