Marianne Williamson

Author, Political Activist, & Spiritual Thought Leader

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frighten us.

Marianne Williamson is a bestselling author, political activist, and spiritual thought leader who has been a leader in spiritual and religiously progressive circles for over three decades, authoring 14 books including four #1 New York Times bestsellers that have influenced a contemporary generation of seekers. Her mega-bestseller “A Return to Love” contains the widely quoted passage “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure…” which has become an anthem for spiritual empowerment and personal transformation. Beyond writing, Williamson founded Project Angel Food, a nonprofit that has delivered more than 14 million meals to ill and dying homebound patients since 1989, created to help people suffering from HIV/AIDS, while working throughout her career on poverty, anti-hunger, and racial reconciliation issues. In 2004, she co-founded The Peace Alliance and supports the creation of a U.S. Department of Peace, demonstrating her commitment to translating spiritual principles into political action for systemic change. Williamson ran for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020, bringing spiritual consciousness and love-based politics to mainstream political discourse, and in 2021, launched her Substack platform to continue sharing insights on the intersection of spirituality, politics, and social transformation. Her work consistently bridges personal spiritual development with collective healing, arguing that individual consciousness transformation and political activism are inseparable aspects of creating a more just and compassionate world.

Why their voice matters: Williamson demonstrates how spiritual principles can inform political action and social justice work, arguing that lasting social change requires both external policy reform and inner transformation, while showing that love-based consciousness is not passive spirituality but an active force for addressing systemic inequities and creating more compassionate governance.
